Dr Peter Stewart is a highly trained Colorectal and General Surgeon with extensive experience across Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He specialises in minimally invasive surgery and is known for delivering tailored, evidence-based care for patients with bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diverticular disease, colorectal polyps, hernias, and gallbladder conditions.
A GESA-accredited endoscopist in both Upper Endoscopy and Colonoscopy, Dr Stewart also serves as Supervisor of Endoscopy for Surgical Trainees within the Hunter/Central Coast Surgical Training Network. His dedication to advancing surgical standards is reflected not only in his clinical work but also in his active role in surgical education. He is an Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, assessing both entry into surgical training and Part I clinical examinations, and is an Instructor for the ASSET surgical skills course.
Dr Stewart holds a Master of Surgery in Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney, awarded for research into aspirin’s role in preventing colorectal polyps and cancer. He has presented and published nationally and internationally, and is a member of both the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS).
